Obama: Same or worse on all major issues

Obama pledged to reduce the number of Combat Troops in Iraq. This got repeated by others simply as reducing troops in Iraq. The truth is Obama is not changing anything. He claimed to be reducing the number to between 35,000 and 50,000, which later became the high number 50,000. He is leaving 50,000 or more combat troops in Iraq. Tens of thousands of other troops occupying Iraq will be redefined as non-combat troops even though their present actions as combat troops won’t be changing. It’s simple, just rename the the title for the units and call them something else and then you can claim on paper that combat troop levels have decreased. This is a lot like renaming a POW, an enemy combatant, in order to skirt around the rule that forbids torture to POWs. Do they really think the American people are that stupid? Yes they do because they know the media isn’t going to explain it to you. They’re going to sell it to you.

“The troop withdrawal as planned would leave behind as many as 50,000 U.S. troops. That’s an awful lot. Even Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi thinks that may be too much. She told Rachel Maddow, “I don’t know what the justification is for 50,000, at the present…I would think a third of that, maybe 20,000, a little more than a third, 15,000 or 20,000.

Those troops won’t include officially designated “combat” troops. But those tens of thousands of troops will still be occupying Iraq. Doing what? Very likely, just what combat troops do — they would walk and talk and bomb and shoot like combat troops, but they’d be called something else.”

Another problem is that with just half a month left there are still 77,500 combat troops in Iraq even after changing the definition of the word. How they’re going to get 25,000 less is no mystery. They aren’t, and never intended on it. The troop levels haven’t changed the troop labels have changed. And there are even more people with guns killing people in Afghanistan. This also doesn’t include the large number of “contractors” a nice civilian sounding word given to hired mercenaries who kill more civilians than the military and whose own deaths are not counted in the statistics for the number of Americans killed.
